REALTORS® are committed to the highest ethical standards as outlined in the Code of Ethics. If you believe a REALTOR® has not met these standards, there are several ways to address your concerns:
Contact the REALTOR®'s Broker
Consider starting by discussing your concern with the REALTOR®'s managing broker, who may help resolve the issue quickly. You can find the broker’s contact information on the California Department of Real Estate website.
Use the C.A.R. Ombudsman Program
The California Association of REALTORS® offers an Ombudsman Program specifically for its members. Through this program, a C.A.R. ombudsman works with both parties to reach a resolution in non-legal disputes. Click here to learn more or to engage an ombudsman.
Peer-to-Peer Ethics Infoline
Before you file a complaint utilize the Peer-to-Peer Ethics Infoline available through the California Association of REALTORS®. If you believe a Realtor® member has violated the Code of Ethics, you may file a grievance through OVBR. Any member of the public or another Realtor® may initiate a complaint. We take each complaint seriously and provide a structured process for review.

The Ojai Valley Board of Realtors® is dedicated to promoting ethical practices and professionalism among its members. By upholding the National Association of Realtors® Code of Ethics and adhering to the policies outlined in the California Code of Ethics and Arbitration Manual provided by the California Association of REALTORS®, we work to maintain trust and integrity within the real estate industry.

We will submit your complaint to C.A.R.'s Professional Standards Committee for review. They will assess the details, inform you of the next steps, and keep you updated throughout the process

C.A.R. Professional Standards Statewide Program
The Ojai Valley Board of REALTORS® is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in real estate. To ensure fairness and objectivity in professional standards matters, we have partnered with the California Association of REALTORS® (C.A.R.) to handle our professional standards cases. C.A.R.’s Professional Standards Committees are composed of experienced and trained REALTOR® volunteers who review cases with impartiality and fairness. They ensure that all disputes, ethics complaints, and arbitration requests are handled in accordance with the Code of Ethics and professional conduct guidelines set by the National Association of REALTORS®.
